Good

List of goods intentions

Great quality, Collectable but rare finds at auctions and estate sales, great first time job for new adults.

I am a Mom letting my daughter have her first job selling Cutco products. I started out being a sales person at about 8 years old. I hear a lot of Motivation tapes since my parents sold motorcycles. What I like about learning so young, is it gave me a head start.

Since I am not very good at teaching sales, I am trying my best to provide the best safe learning environment for my daughters and hold to my morality of selling to a customer that wants the product. I might not be the best sales person because I DO NOT SELL UNWANTED PRODUCTS.

The first product I sold was the AMERICAN FLAG STICKER, which I got for free unpacking Motorcycle Helmet for Stock Display. Each Flag sticker I sold for about fifty cents each. Since sales where high in the Seventies for motorcycles so were my sales for those sticklers, lol. I made about $300.00 in one summer.

Not bad for an eight year old. Yeah, next years the stickers were no longer packaged with the Helmet, lol. Out right sales of stickers from distributors grew, I had to purchase stickers to sell at a profit. I was lucky, I was able to find distributors, I had a great sales location and I had great family support.

I did work my way up the family business later selling Motorcycle accessories and I think I sold one or two motorcycles, lol. As a Teenager and New Adult I think I did great. In the seventies I was making about $350.00 a week take home pay just on Commissions with very little hourly wage attached ( hourly was $2.25 an hour). How many adults made that much money in the seventies? Not Many.

My expectation on society was high and I thought I could sell or even get a job away from family making the same amount of money, LOL what a dream.

Up date,it has been over 6 months now and my daughter still has not sold one set of knives. I have used her knoves three time since. Good knife set,yet was it worth it to her for reality?.

I have a friend who was a sales manager for the marketing company hired by Cutco. Cutco has good quality knives. Sales is a great way to make money . . . but there are other ways, too. Selling requires belief, belief, belief.

    Bad

Commision salary sales with what is call a Draw.

A lesson my daughter will soon learn, I just hope I catch her before is goes to much into a debted hole. I hope I have given a good knowledge of the Draw to my daughter if not I hope she reads my hub story to get a better view. Remember she is still a teenager and just because you say something to them does not mean they listen. Hince, the reason I am letting learn her own way.

Draw is a set agree upon weekly salary and when you commission does not match to that set salary is then added up and then removed from the nexts weeks commission pay weeks that is higher than the salaried week. More that a physical year Quarter of a year sales not making above the agree upon commission , most likely you WILL GET CANNED,FIRED HOW EVER YOU WANT TO DESCRIBE NOT BEING EMPLOYED.

Nobody in the right business mind is going to continue paying for no profit.

Hint "This is a lesson that needs to be learned and it HURTS" Every true sales person has gone though with this experience and try as they might to teach others is very difficult. Specially when a sales person is a sales Motivation High;People that just got though listening to motivation sales or just got back from Motivation Seminar or Sales Conference. Being a pestimist just does not exisit, lol after.

Bad- Paying for Motivation seminars or conference.

Bad- Paying to set up shop, buying motivation tapes, buying product kits.

Bad- Laws changing to exclude tax deductions for self employment
